Our KS2 programme, Sing Out and Play Out, offers whole year groups the opportunity to enjoy high quality instrumental and vocal provision throughout the academic year.
Launched last year, the programme has achieved first-class feedback from schools, students and teachers on its value and success.
We also know that the chance to perform on a professional stage at the Grove Theatre or the Bedford Corn Exchange has proved a real highlight for many children. Moreover, schools report real positive effects on children’s self confidence, concentration and self esteem.
The programme delivers:
• ten weekly visits by one of our vocal animateurs during Autumn/Spring term culminating in a Singing Morning at the end of term
• ten weekly visits from one of our instrumental team during the corresponding term
• a school performance at the end of the instrumental term. (Many schools also choose to invite carers/parents).
• three revisits from the vocal animateur in Summer term culminating in an invitation to perform at a Celebration Concert at the Grove Theatre/Bedford Corn Exchange.
All instruments are provided and are likely to be recorder or percussion based. If your school wishes to use other instrumentation, we will endeavour to meet your request.
The vocal strand is aimed at Year 3, but if class sizes allow, we are happy for Year 4 students to take part as well. Schools can also offer the vocal and instrumental strands to different classes and age groups. Delivery time and day is expected to be the same throughout the year.
There is also the opportunity to engage extra instrumental tuition for the Summer term for any students who show a particular aptitude or enthusiasm for the instrumental strand.
The programme remains just £500 for the academic year, including all management, resources and delivery costs.
You can find out more, see how the programme meets the music National Curriculum for KS2, and find the order form in our brochure. Please return the order form by 3 May to cathy.mccague@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk.
