Spotlight concert

Spotlight concert

I am trying organise another spotlight concert in the summer term at St. Andrews Church in Ampthill on Saturday 7 July 2018.

If you have not heard of this type of event before it is a concert aimed at giving players and singers of all ages (including adults) and levels of ability the chance to take centre stage either as a soloist or as part of a small ensemble. It has always been a popular event and those taking part either as performers or in the audience have enjoyed the experience.

We also try to use the event to raise money to help support local charities or endeavours by running a cake stall. The event itself is free to take part in however there will be a retiring collection as part of this fund raising.

I am planning to be at the church at about mid-day to set up and would hope to start the concert around 1pm, and finishing about 4pm. Timings would depend on numbers taking part.

Each player/singer/ensemble would be given a time slot of around 5 to 10 minutes (again depending on numbers) in which to perform.

There is a very nice grand piano in the church for soloists and accompanists to use and there will also be audio equipment for playing backing tracks if required.

The dress code would be smart but informal (ie. No jeans, trainers or T shirts).

If you or you know of anyone else who would like to take part in this concert, can you please fill in the attached form and return it to myself at the above address. I would appreciate a quick response please, so I know if it will be a viable event. Once I have an idea of numbers I will send out another letter giving more details of the event.

Yours sincerely

Mr Peter Halliday
