Sing Out, Play Out

Sing Out, Play Out is our flagship First Access Programme.

Sing Out Play Out includes a term of instrumental learning, a term of singing to support the school’s singing strategy and three performances:

  • one within their school
  • one at a school cluster
  • one large-scale performance at a professional theatre.

CPD for School Staff is provided throughout the project.

Who is it for?

Sing Out Play Out, is open for students in years 3, 4 and 5.

What does it include?

Sing Out, Play Out offers:

  • a 50 to 60-minutet session per week, for 25 weeks, for a maximum of 33 children per session
  • specialist tuition by vocal and instrumental animateurs
  • detailed planning
  • provision of instruments for a term

Across the year schools receive:

  • instrumental lessons and an Instrumental Assembly Performance (Term A)
  • 10 vocal lessons and a Singing Morning with cluster schools (Term B)
  • 3 return vocal visits in the summer and a Large Scale Massed Celebration Vocal Concert (Term C)

What instruments do we offer?

The allocation of instruments is based on the speciality of the instrumental tutor assigned to each school cluster.

The following instruments may be offered:

  • Ocarina
  • Ukulele
  • Recorder
  • Guitar
  • African Drumming
  • Samba

Celebration concert

Sing Out Play Out provides a unique performance opportunity for students to perform live on a professional stage at:

  • The Grove Theatre in Dunstable, or
  • The Bedford Corn Exchange

What does the school need to provide?

The school needs to provide:

  • appropriate teaching space for the activity involved
  • supportive classroom management
  • whiteboard
  • additional singing practice
  • possible transport to singing morning, definite transport to the celebration concert

How much does it cost?

£585 per project, split:

  • Term A £234
  • Term B £234
  • Term C £117

How much does it cost?

£348 (6 weeks of delivery).
