Film scores feature in fun for all the family classical concerts

We’re joining forces with Ampthill Orchestra to showcase a children’s concert that’s fun for all the family at Dunstable's The Grove Theatre on Sunday March 8.

A Musical Journey Through Stories and Time will feature music from family film favourites such as Harry Potter, The Incredibles, Oliver and more.

There will be two short afternoon concerts (2pm and 4:30pm) and both are a great opportunity to introduce children to live classical music, perhaps for the first time.

Inspiring Music Director Charlotte Payne said:

The concerts will give local school choirs the chance to sing with a live orchestra, hopefully inspiring the next generation of musicians and orchestra members.

Our aim is to inspire children through music and, ultimately, to take up an instrument, but these concerts have also been created to be fun for all the family, so there will be fancy dress and a really fun atmosphere.

We’re certain everyone will be surprised at how many classical pieces they’re already familiar with, just because they are such an important part of much-loved family films.

Schools taking part in concert one (2pm) are:

  • Hadrian Academy

  • Toddington St George

  • Ridgmont Lower School

  • Kingsmoor Lower School

Schools/choirs taking part in concert two (4:30pm) are:

  • Ardley Hill Academy

  • Hawthorn Park Community Primary School

  • Icknield Lower School

  • Swallowfield Lower School

  • Out of the Box Choir

Tickets for each concert are £5, plus a £1 booking fee per ticket, though under-16s can get £2 off.
