About the project

The project will be open to all families, although it has a particular focus on certain ethnic groups including the Black/Black British-African and Mixed White and Black Caribbean communities. We want to recruit someone with knowledge or experience of working with, or who has a background in, one of these communities. The music leader will work in a pair alongside a member of Sinfonia Verdi, a Luton-based orchestra with expertise in modern, historical, global, and community music. (Please note that for this role, classical music training is not a requirement).

The project incorporates a development programme in autumn 2022 for the music leaders to explore co-creative processes within their Early Years practice. We are seeking someone who is open to exploring child-led, open-ended musical practice and the concept of creating a ‘musical play space’ for the families in the sessions. Session delivery will then start in January 2023.
