Battle of the Bands

Battle of the Bands

Pupils from 14 Central Bedfordshire schools will be showcasing their musical talents when they take part in two Battle of the Bands competitions.

The first, for Key Stage 3 pupils (Years 7-9 or 11-14 year olds) takes place at Redborne Upper School, in Ampthill, at 7pm on Wednesday, 28 February.

There are bands from 11 schools performing, including nine from Central Bedfordshire: Redborne Upper, Alameda Middle, Harlington Upper School, Woodland Academy, Queensbury Academy, Manshead School, Stratton Upper, Arnold Academy, Robert Bloomfield Academy.

They can be made up of between two and 15 pupils and each performs one song with the winner invited back for an encore and receiving some great prizes.

There is guaranteed to be a new winner with Edward Peake CofE Middle School, who won the first-ever competition last year, not taking part this time around.

The second event, for Key Stage 4-5 pupils (Years 10-13, or 14-18 year olds), will be held at The Stables, in Wavendon, near Milton Keynes, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 27 March.

Again, there is a strong Central Bedfordshire representation, with schools here making up three-quarters of the 12 acts. The nine are: Stratton Upper, Redborne Uper, Manshead School, Samuel Whitbread Academy, Vandyke Upper, Sandy Upper, Cedars Upper, Queensbury Academy and Priory Academy.
