Individual and small group weekly tuition

Learning to play a musical instrument or to sing can be an extremely rewarding experience for children and young people. School is often the ideal place to begin that journey.

Inspiring Music offers individual and small group weekly instrumental and vocal tuition delivered by experienced specialist tutors. Lessons are designed to be engaging, inclusive and supportive for students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to more advanced musicians.

Our tutors help pupils develop musicianship, technical skills and confidence, while encouraging enjoyment and long-term engagement with music.

Instrument hire

All students receiving weekly instrumental lessons can hire an instrument free of charge for their first year, subject to availability.

Please note: instrument hire is not available for piano, keyboard, drum kit or guitar.

Safeguarding and quality assurance

All Inspiring Music weekly tuition tutors:

  • hold an enhanced DBS check

  • have completed relevant safeguarding training

  • work in line with Inspiring Music’s safeguarding policies and procedures

Lesson types and costs

Lessons take place weekly during term time. The maximum number of lessons available per term is:

  • autumn term: up to 15 weeks

  • spring term: up to 11 weeks

  • summer term: up to 14 weeks

Group lessons

  • group of 2, 20-minute lesson: £9.00 per pupil, per lesson

  • group of 3, 30-minute lesson: £9.00 per pupil, per lesson

  • group of 2, 30-minute lesson: £13.50 per pupil, per lesson

Individual lessons

  • 20-minute individual lesson: £16.64 per lesson

  • 30-minute individual lesson: £24.89 per lesson

  • 40-minute individual lesson: £33.16 per lesson

Band Craft – Learn, Play, Rock!

Band Craft is Inspiring Music’s band-based programme for pupils in Years 3 to 6, offering children the opportunity to learn a band instrument and experience what it’s like to play in a real band.

Pupils can choose to learn:

  • electric guitar

  • bass guitar

  • drums

No previous musical experience is required.

How Band Craft works

Pupils begin with weekly 30-minute group lessons, taught in groups of four by instrument. These sessions focus on building core playing skills and musical understanding.

Once pupils are ready, they progress to 30-minute band sessions where they rehearse together, learn well-known songs, collaborate with peers and build confidence through ensemble playing.

Performance opportunities are offered when pupils feel ready.

What Band Craft offers

  • the chance to learn electric guitar, bass guitar or drums

  • experience playing as part of a band

  • expert guidance from specialist tutors

  • opportunities to jam with other children

  • learning and performing well-known songs

  • a fun, supportive environment that builds confidence, teamwork and listening skills

How schools can get involved

Schools play a key role in the success of Band Craft by:

  • hosting assemblies or information sessions

  • promoting sign-ups to pupils and families

  • identifying interested pupils

  • providing suitable space for weekly lessons

To help spark interest, Inspiring Music can also offer a live performance by our tutors. Performance times are flexible and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Following the performance, schools will receive:

  • parent communications

  • enrolment information and next steps

Instruments and equipment

If sufficient numbers of pupils enrol, Inspiring Music will provide:

  • four electric guitars

  • four bass guitars

  • one electric drum kit

Storage support and a hire agreement are included.

Cost to Parents

Group lessons offer a fun, supportive and cost-effective way for children to begin learning an instrument, while developing confidence, teamwork and listening skills.

The current cost for Band Craft group lessons is:

  • £9.00 per pupil, per lesson
