Terms and Conditions for Schools Engaging with Inspiring Music

Academic Year 2026–2027

Thank you for your continued support with the provision of music lessons, both whole class and weekly tuition within your schools. It is thanks to a very strong partnership with schools that we can provide high quality tuition to the students in Central Bedfordshire Schools.

The Terms and Conditions listed below enable this partnership to be successful in allowing the children and young people in your school to get the most positive experience from their lessons.

Please note that all projects and activities are offered subject to the availability of specialist tutors within your geographical area.

Should your school wish to cancel or cease any activity booked, a minimum of one term’s notice is required.

Involvement in any activity means that both parties agree to the requirements listed below.

Whole Class Delivery

Inspiring Music will provide:

  1. Experienced whole class music practitioners

  2. An inclusive Head Start session (see brochure)

  3. Tailored planning (including a class audit and sharing SoW)

  4. Instruments (where appropriate)

  5. Invoices for the projects/ services booked

School will ensure that they adhere to:

  1. A designated member of the school’s teaching staff to actively support all sessions delivered by Inspiring Music tutors.

  2. School staff will actively support positive behaviour in line with school’s behaviour policy

  3. Students are not removed from the class for additional learning

  4. The room is equipped with a whiteboard and speaker or a suitable alternative

  5. Inspiring Music tutors are provided with your schools secure Wi-Fi access for their CBC devices (laptop or iPads)

  6. Transport to and supervision at Something for Summer (where appropriate)

  7. Inform Inspiring Music tutors and the Inspiring Music Office at inspiring.music@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk of any unexpected full or part closures of the school (including but not limited to weather, heating, contagion) which would prevent the tutor from delivering their lesson, at the earliest opportunity

  8. Any sessions that are cancelled by the school, which are not identified by the school before the project has started, will still be charged for.

  9. Lessons not able to be delivered by Inspiring Music Staff due to illness will endeavour to be made up in liaison with the school.

Instrumental and Singing Superstars

and Teach Together Instrumental and Singing Superstars

For Instrumental and Singing Superstars and Teach Together Instrumental and Singing Superstars schools will ensure that they adhere to:

  1. Fully support the Head Start approach, which includes:
    a. Classroom teacher completing and returning Inspiring Music’s Whole Class Support Questionnaire to the Inspiring Music tutor delivering sessions by the deadline set.
    b. As part of this questionnaire up to 8 pupils are to be selected to participate in the head start session. These will be selected by the class teacher, identifying pupils who might face barriers towards accessing the sessions.
    c. The head start session takes place during week 1, working exclusively with the selected pupils. The intention is to provide them with a head start, allowing them to participate and engage with the future sessions. Virtual lesson resources can be provided to the school to support the rest of the class not involved within the head start session on week 1.

Teach Together Primary

For Teach Together Primary, schools will ensure that they adhere to:

  1. Designated class teacher identified for Teach Together Primary to be available for all sessions

  2. Designated class teacher identified for Teach Together Primary to actively engage fully with all sessions

  3. Only one designated class teacher to be allocated per term

  4. Effectively engaging with the vision and intent to deliver music sessions independently after the project has ended

Teach Together Instrumental and Vocal Superstars

For Teach Together Instrumental and Vocal Superstars, schools will ensure that they adhere to:

  1. Designated class teacher identified for Teach Together Superstars to be available for all sessions

  2. Designated class teacher identified for Teach Together Superstars to actively engage fully with all sessions

  3. Only one designated class teacher to be allocated per project/class (instrumental and vocal superstars only)

  4. A minimum of 2 terms delivery per project/class

  5. Effectively engaging with the vision and intent to deliver music sessions independently after the project has ended

  6. Teach Together Instrumental is for approachable instruments only (see brochure)

For All Music Provision in Schools

For the health, safety and welfare of Inspiring Music staff and pupils, schools will ensure:

  1. Indoor work rooms used for music practice are heated to a minimum of 16 degrees Celsius and have means of limiting high temperature and/or cooling during periods of hot weather

  2. Indoor work rooms used for music practice have sufficient means of ventilation, providing clean and fresh air through either mechanical means or via open windows and/or doors

  3. Indoor work rooms used for music practice are provided with furniture which is required and suitable for the practice of the activity planned

  4. Inspiring Music staff are provided with free and ready access to toilets and hand washing facilities

  5. Inspiring Music staff are provided with free and ready access to drinking water, and suitable cups/drinking vessels if drinking water is not dispensed via a jet/fountain

  6. Inspiring Music staff are provided with free access to a space suitable for rest and eating meals, if the duration of their attendance requires such facility

  7. Inspiring Music staff are given information relating to emergency arrangements including for fire, bomb threat, suspect package and first aid provision, upon arrival at each session

  8. Inspiring Music staff are given information relating to any foreseeable hazards which may affect them during their time on site, upon arrival at each session

  9. All locations accessed by are maintained in a clean and safe condition, adequately lit and with foreseeable hazards reduced so far as is reasonably practicable

  10. Students (under18) who are known to have tested positive for (COVID-19) within the previous 4 days (i.e. 3 days after the day they tested positive, as per NHS guidance) should abstain from attending lessons.

  11. Any students known to have an infectious illness should be supported by the school to follow the What infections are, how they are transmitted and those at higher risk of infection - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and the Children and young people settings: tools and resources - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) document and following the ‘Exclusions Table’.

  12. Appropriate teaching space for the activity (see brochure for these details)

  13. Appropriate storage space for resources (Instrumental and iPad projects only):
    a. Dry storage
    b. Resources are not stored near radiators or in direct sunlight
    c. Resources are stored in a locked cupboard or classroom when unsupervised

Weekly Tuition

Weekly tuition is requested and paid for by parents, and in some cases schools. This contract is between parents/carers and Inspiring Music and must be supported by schools.

Inspiring Music:

  1. Tutors will always adhere to schools’ visitor procedures.

  2. Tutors will wear Inspiring Music ID lanyard.
    • Please be aware DBS certificates cannot be photocopied and kept for records.
    • Instead, Certificate Number and Date of Issue is shared with schools

  3. Tutors will provide the school with details of lesson timetables and communicate with parents.

  4. If a tutor is absent, they or the Inspiring Music Business Support Team will communicate with schools as soon as possible.

  5. The Inspiring Music Business Support Team will invoice parents/carers (and schools where appropriate) accordingly.

Schools to:

  6. Inspiring Music tutors are provided with free and ready access to toilets and hand washing facilities

  7. Inspiring Music tutors are provided with free and ready access to drinking water, and suitable cups/drinking vessels if drinking water is not dispensed via a jet/fountain

  8. Inspiring Music tutors are provided with free access to a space suitable for rest and eating meals, if the duration of their attendance will require such facility

  9. Inspiring Music tutors are given information relating to emergency arrangements including for fire, bomb threat, suspect package and first aid provision, upon arrival at each session

  10. Inspiring Music tutors are given information relating to any foreseeable hazards which may affect them during their time on site, upon arrival at each session

  14. Communicate with tutors and school staff to ensure lessons are delivered as planned.

  15. Provide tutors with a calendar of events (including planned examinations and tests) indicating which year groups/classes are involved in activities on the school calendar.

  16. Facilitate delivery of music lessons as per the published timetable and as agreed with parents.

  17. In the event of an unplanned test, exam or school trip the tutor and parent must be notified with a minimum of 7 days’ notice or schools will be liable for payment.

  18. Inform Inspiring Music tutors of any unexpected full or part closures of the school (including but not limited to weather, heating, contagion) at the earliest opportunity which would prevent the tutor from delivering their lesson

Safeguarding

At Inspiring Music, we recognise our statutory duty under Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to ensure that arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Our duty under the Children Act 2004 is to work together with other organisations and partners to achieve this, and our Common Law duty to protect and keep children safe whilst in our care.

We fully acknowledge our responsibilities for child safeguarding and recognise that through our day-to-day contact with children, Inspiring Music tutors are well placed to identify signs of risk and harm which might arise either inside or outside of time spent in school.

The service operates in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) – Information for all school and college staff – September 2024* and ensures that all staff engaged by the service (both employed by CBC or engaged as Self-Employed Visiting Music Tutors) is provided with and is required to read, at least part 1 of the Document which can be found on the government website.

All tutors hired by Inspiring Music are subject to:

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) including Children’s Barred list and education and career history validation

  • Successful completion of a Safeguarding training course including Prevent Duty and other mandatory training courses of Central Bedfordshire Council

  • Satisfactory references from two referees
