Explore our music groups by instrument or session type, helping you find the best fit for your interests and experience level.

Weekend sessions are open to anyone aged 5 and above, including adults. After-school sessions are for children in Year 2 and above, as well as adults. Sessions are suitable for complete beginners through to more confident players.


Brass

Foundation Brass

A lively introduction to brass instruments such as trumpet or trombone. Participants learn how to produce sound, play simple notes and start making music together.

Folk group

A friendly, informal group exploring traditional and folk music. Open to a range of instruments, with a focus on playing together and enjoying the music.

Great for:

  • mixed abilities

  • those who enjoy relaxed, social music‑making

  • those interested in different styles of music

Keyboard

Foundation Keys

A fun introduction to keyboard for beginners. Participants learn basic notes, simple tunes and rhythms while building confidence playing in a group.

  • those who enjoy melody and structure

  • those new to reading music

Singing

Vocal Group

A relaxed and enjoyable singing group where participants explore songs, warm up their voices and build confidence performing together.

  • all abilities

  • those who want to develop their singing skills

Strings

Foundation Strings

An introduction to violin, viola or cello. Participants learn how to hold and play their instrument, create their first sounds and begin simple pieces together.

  • those interested in orchestral instruments

  • those who enjoy expressive playing

South Beds Sinfonia

A string orchestra for students of Grade 3 standard upwards in south Bedfordshire. The group performs a varied repertoire and takes part in two concerts each year, typically at Christmas and in the summer.

Great for:

  • players of Grade 3 standard and above

  • those interested in orchestral playing

  • those who enjoy performing

Wind

Foundation jSax

Great for:

  • inspiring beginner - wind classes are for those in Year 3 upwards

  • those just starting out

  • growing in confidence, focus, and cooperation through enjoyable group activities

 

Training Wind Band

Great for:

  • those in Year 3 and upwards, who can play around six notes on their instruments

  • focussing on developing confidence, basic ensemble skills and simple note-reading through fun and supportive group playing
