Young carers from Central Bedfordshire collaborate with the Bath Philharmonia

A remarkable group of young carers from Central Bedfordshire have been working alongside the Creative Learning Team from Bath Philharmonia to create something truly special.

From the first workshop to the final performance, these young musicians showed dedication, creativity, and real courage. Across three days in the Easter holidays and an intensive weekend of rehearsals, they composed original music and brought it to life with animations inspired by their own artwork.

The premiere was the perfect celebration of that journey. Friends and family gathered to experience the performance, and were completely blown away by the talent, expression, and musicianship on display.

This project has been about so much more than performance. It’s been about building confidence, forming friendships, and creating lasting memories.

This incredible opportunity was made possible thanks to the support of Central Bedfordshire Council, Arts Council England, Riviam Digital Care, The Fairfield Charitable Trust, Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music, the Lyons Community Centre, and HAF funding.

A huge thank you goes to:
• The inspiring young musicians, for sharing their creativity and commitment
• The brilliant Creative Learning Team at Bath Philharmonia, for nurturing every idea and voice
• Colleagues across the Children’s and Families directorate for making this such a powerful cross-service collaboration.

This has been a truly special project, and it doesn’t end here. We’re already looking forward to taking the next step and joining Bath Philharmonia in Bath for a future performance in June.
