In autumn 2022 and spring 2023, we initiated a youth engagement research project aimed at addressing barriers, needs, and aspirations of young musicians through engagement with young people aged 13 years and above. The focus was on children and young people’s musical experiences and preferences, wanting to learn more about their participation trends, and informing us about how we can develop our provisions to represent their musical interests.
Music services from Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes have teamed up to launch the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Music Hub from September 2024.
As part of an ambitious national programme to provide high-quality music education for all children and young people, the centre covers Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.
Band in a Van has returned for Phase 2, bringing an exciting and inclusive music project to schools across Central Bedfordshire. Building on the success of the first phase earlier this year, the programme focuses on accessibility, creativity and meaningful progression for every young person involved.
Last week, Inspiring Music was delighted to be part of a special Benedetti Foundation Residency with the BLMK Music Hub (Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes). Across three inspiring events, the residency brought together pupils, teachers and young musicians to share high‑quality musical experiences led by world‑class practitioners.
We were delighted to host this year’s Beds Band Blast‑Off at Esquires earlier this month, bringing together some of the most talented young musicians from schools across Central Bedfordshire. The venue was full, the atmosphere was electric, and every band took to the stage with energy, confidence and real passion for music.
